US Congressman Scott Perry has made some explosive allegations against the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), claiming that the agency has been funneling taxpayer funds to terrorist organizations, including Boko Haram.

Perry, a Republican from Pennsylvania, made these claims during a hearing of the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency, where he stated that USAID has been misusing American taxpayer funds to support extremist groups. He alleged that $697 million annually, plus shipments of cash funds, were being sent to Madrasas, ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, and other terrorist training camps.

Perry also criticized USAID’s reported expenditure of $136 million to build 120 schools in Pakistan, claiming there was “zero evidence” of the schools’ construction. He further questioned the legitimacy of USAID-funded programs aimed at women’s education in Afghanistan, arguing that such initiatives were unrealistic given the Taliban’s restrictions on women.

These allegations are not isolated, as former US President Donald Trump has also called for USAID’s closure, accusing it of corruption. Elon Musk, who was appointed by Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, has also vowed to shut down USAID, describing it as “a viper’s nest of radical-left Marxists who hate America”.
