WAEC Releases 2024 WASSCE Results for Private Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates. This development comes after 65,023 candidates sat for the examination, which took place in Nigeria from October 25 to December 20, 2024.

According to WAEC’s acting Public Affairs officer, Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, 34,878 candidates (53.64%) obtained credit and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. Breaking down this figure, 16,886 male candidates (48.41%) and 17,992 female candidates (51.58%) achieved this feat.

Key Statistics:

  • 95.90% of results fully processed and released: 62,354 candidates can now access their results.
  • 4.10% of results pending: 2,669 candidates have some subjects still being processed due to errors.
  • 67.55% obtained credit and above in five subjects: 43,923 candidates achieved this, with or without English Language and/or Mathematics.
  • 3.96% of results withheld: 2,577 candidates’ results were withheld due to allegations of examination malpractice.

Candidates whose results were withheld are advised to visit the WAEC Notice of Examination Malpractice Portal to make representations and respond to allegations. WAEC assures that reported cases will be investigated, and decisions will be communicated directly to affected candidates.
